Lean Cuisine Origins: Cheese & Fire-Roasted Chile Tamale

3/5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟

An alternate title for this one should have been “Lean Cuisine Presents: SAUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” because this sauce, much like me during my stint in show choir, is desperate for all the attention that it can get.

I truly went into this thinking this would be the best one. The box has a fashioable “new look” that’s so good, I briefly considered framing it to display in my home.

In theory, this lil’ guy has it all – cheese! Carbs! An overwhelming number of different fonts on the box!

But at the end of the day, it’s lackluster, with the sauce just hiding how boring it is, like that dog Instagram filter filter.

Taste: ⅗

If you’re someone who has ever gone to Taco Bell just to eat a fistful of the Mild Sauce packets, then this might just be your thing. Otherwise, it’s a snoozefest.

Ease of Cooking: ⅕

SIX MINUTES OF MICROWAVING. (including a stir in the middle) It took so long that I that I could have gotten a helicopter license and piloted myself over to a real restaurant in the time it took to make this.

Appearance: ⅕

The photo looks exactly like the food, assuming that you’re standing a thousand miles away, squinting through a telescope. And also you got those eyedrops in that make everything blurry.

Overall: ⅗

This is the 2005 Honda Civic of Lean Cuisines – not flashy, not particularly really memorable, but it’ll get the job done. (The “job” here is fill you up enough in between snacks.)
