TGI Friday’s Loaded Potato Skins Review

December 16, 2020September 28, 2021 paulakskaggs Comments Off on TGI Friday’s Loaded Potato Skins Review

4.5/5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Wouldn’t it be wild if I kicked off this review for TGI Friday’s Loaded Potato Skins by being like “GROSS! SO DISGUSTING! BLECH!!! WHO COMES UP WITH THIS STUFF?!” I mean, it’s bacon, cheddar cheese and potatoes. If I thought this was bad, they’d take away my Frozen Food Review License for sure. (Yes, you do have to have a license to run an account like this – I had to get forms notarized and send $500 in monthly dues to some guy named Russell and everything.)

Taste: 5/5. These are great – of course they’re great, how could they not be. But they’re also playing it safe. These are the frozen appetizer equivalent of the kid at the Science Fair who makes a baking soda and vinegar volcano. Did they put even an ounce of thought into it? No. Have we seen this before? Three million times. Does that make it any less exciting when you take a big bite and it burns the roof of your mouth, as the judges beg you to leave because you’re “ruining this for the kids”? Absolutely not.

Ease of Cooking: ……../5. It’s 18 MINUTES in the oven. That’s a double digit number, which is twice as long as anything should take to cook. Thank goodness I had a stash of stale crackers I could snack on nearby, or I’d waste away to nothing waiting for these to be done.

Appearance: ⅘. These things are hefty. They’re not just a little potato sliver with a dash of cheddar on them. These are full, scooped out halves of potatoes, overflowing with “bacon and cheese” (I purposefully didn’t read the ingredients, let’s just trust them on this). The cheese is all over the place, that potatoes are misshapen – they’re not winning any beauty pageants, but they’re a strong contender for Miss Congeniality.

Overall: 4.5/5. I will not rest until this blurry photo I took of these Loaded Potato Skins is the new American flag. (Or at least until it replaces one of the less important state’s stars. Rhode Island?)
